Michelin-starred Gastronomy in Monaco

From the times of the late XIXth century when Swiss hotelier Cesar Ritz, famous French Chef Auguste Escoffier, renowned architects Gustave Eiffel and Charles Garnier etc. brought a bit of their fame to Monte-Carlo to the modern times which saw so many A-listers of the planet settle down to work, invest or retire in Monaco, the Principality has been a magnet for excellence and world class talents.

With about 170 restaurants, visitors and locals are spoilt for choice with cuisines from all around the world. Despite its glossy reputation, Monaco also offers options for all budgets, from the local eatery to the multi Michelin Stars awared restaurant.

We explore hereon the notable Michelin-starred restaurants in the Principality.

LE LOUIS XV – ALAIN DUCASSE 

Some world travelers make it to Monaco just to have a chance to be a guest at Le Louis XV – Alain Ducasse à l’Hôtel de Paris. With three Michelin stars (the only such establishment on the French or the Italian Riviera), and situated inside the Hotel de Paris – Monte-Carlo, it is a major asset for the soft power of Monaco on the international scene.

The restaurant’s 2016 new aspect, designed by interior design hall-of-fame member Patrick Jouin and his partner Sanjit Manku, subtly evokes the Riviera’s art de vivre.

“The Riviera is still the prodigal inspiration of my cuisine,” says Alain Ducasse. And let us not forget another unique asset of Le Louis XV -Alain Ducasse: its wine list, imbued with the immense wealth of one of the most beautiful cellars in the world.

THE METROPOLE MONTE-CARLO RESTAURANT

Previously the Joël Robuchon Monte-Carlo restaurant in Hôtel Metropole Monte-Carlo, this acclaimed establishment offers fine cuisine with Mediterranean flavors and fresh seasonal produce. It was awarded with two Michelin stars, under the late Joël Robuchon, who has also the most Michelin stars in the world. Its chef’s counter, looking over the open kitchen, is one highlight in Monte-Carlo.

Executive Chef, Christophe Cussac, invites you to a unique and convivial culinary experience within the footsteps of his ‘spiritual father’, the late Joël Robuchon.

YOSHI

The first Japanese restaurant by Chef Joël Robuchon, Yoshi offers modern and healthy cuisine inside Hotel Metropole Monte-Carlo. Run by Chef Takeo Yamazaki, this one Michelin star restaurant combines Japanese culture with the European elegance of the hotel. Nigiris, makis, sashimis, fish or meat cooked with teppanyaki compete for freshness, accompanied by the best Japanese sake, whiskies or green tea, await guests every day.

YOSHI is the only Japanese restaurant on the Côte d’Azur to have been awarded a Michelin star since 2010.

LE VISTAMAR

Located inside Hôtel Hermitage, the restaurant was awarded with one Michelin star for its refined seafood cuisine. The Vistamar sits on one of the most beautiful terraces of Monaco. Don’t forget to enjoy your meal with a glass of delicious wine.

LE BLUE BAY

Chef Marcel Ravin has intuited a fusion of Caribbean and Mediterranean influences, which give his cuisine a uniquely delicious and refined flavour profile. This creativity and tenacity were rewarded in 2015 when his restaurant, the Blue Bay at the Monte-Carlo Bay Hotel & Resort, was awarded a Michelin star.
