Songqi – Modern Cantonese Cuisine in Monaco

“Song” refers to the Chinese dynasty that ruled from year 960 to 1279, synonymous with strength and power, often associated with the Chinese “renaissance”. “Qi” is the essential principle in the Chinese culture, forming and moving the universe and life. The association of both provides Monaco the only offer that hasn’t been created before: a Chinese fine dining restaurant with a focus on perfectly executed Cantonese specialties.

“Song Qi” was born from the gastronomic union of three passionate restaurant managers, Alan Yau, Samuel Treves & Riccardo Giraudi. For 5 years, Malaysian Chef Chai Chee Yu has been the head chef of Song Qi. In 2019 in Malaysia, Chef Chai represented Monaco at the World Competition for Asian Cuisine (which happens every 4 years) and was awarded 2 gold and 2 silver awards, a nod to his and Song Qi’s excellence and authenticity.

Located in the seaside Larvotto area and designed by architects Humbert & Poyet, Song Qi is an intimate place offering the perfect balance between modernity, luxury and timelessness. The refined materials, the predominance of black and white, the subtle touches of brass in the lightings, as well as the silky green banquettes and chairs will take you out of yourself and transport you to an authentic Chinese gastronomic experience.

Chef Chai won 4 awards at a culinary competition early 2020
